Deep Study
Matthew’s Genealogy (Matthew 1):
- Traces legal line through Joseph (royal line of David through Solomon).
- Written in descending order (Abraham → Jesus).
- Structured in three groups of 14 generations.
- Emphasizes Jesus as the legal King of the Jews.
Luke’s Genealogy (Luke 3:23-38):
- Traces blood line through Mary (royal line through Nathan, another son of David).
- Written in ascending order (Jesus → Adam).
- Goes all the way back to Adam, showing Jesus as the Savior of all humanity.
Why the difference?
Matthew proves Jesus is the rightful heir to the throne.
Luke proves Jesus is the true Son of Adam and Savior of the world.
Together they show Yeshua is both the King of Israel and the Savior of all mankind.
