Deep Study
Matthew quotes Isaiah 7:14 directly:
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:23 NKJV)
Significance:
- This is one of the clearest declarations in the New Testament that Yeshua is God incarnate.
- The name Jesus (Yeshua) = “Yahweh saves.”
- The name Immanuel = “God with us.”
The virgin birth is essential because only a sinless Savior could die for the sins of the world. Yeshua had to be fully human (to represent us) and fully divine (to be a perfect sacrifice).
Key Truth:
Yeshua is not just a good man or a prophet — He is God with us, the only One who can save His people from their sins.
