The Calling of the First Disciples

Deep Study

While walking by the Sea of Galilee, Jesus saw Simon Peter and Andrew, then James and John. He said to them:

“Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19)

They immediately left their nets, boats, and father to follow Him.

Significance:

  • The call was simple but absolute: “Follow Me.”
  • It required leaving behind their old life and occupation.
  • Jesus promised to transform them — from fishermen to fishers of men.

Yeshua Connection:
Yeshua is still calling people today with the same words: “Follow Me.” He takes ordinary people and transforms them into His representatives. The call to discipleship is the same for every generation.

Key Truth:
When Jesus calls, He offers a new identity and purpose. True discipleship means leaving everything to follow the King.
