“Bull’s Eye” is the central metaphor and guiding principle of this library.
In Scripture, the word for sin (hamartia) literally means “to miss the mark.” This project uses the term Bull’s Eye to emphasize that sincerity and religious effort are not enough. We must be aiming at the correct target.
The True Target
Yeshua Ha-Mashiach is the true Bull’s Eye — the Center, the Plumb Line, and the only Way to the Father (John 14:6).
- When Christ is the target, hitting the mark (living rightly) is good.
- When we miss the mark, His grace is sufficient.
- Our motivation for pursuing holiness flows from love and gratitude, not from trying to earn salvation.
Yeshua is not merely a way — He is the Way. Any system that replaces, redefines, or adds to His finished work is aiming at a different target.
Yeshua Is God — Uncreated and Distinct
Yeshua is not a created being. He is the eternal, uncreated God who has always existed as God. He is personally distinct from the Father and from the Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit), yet He shares the same divine nature.
Scripture is clear and direct:
- John 1:1-3, 14 — “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… All things were made through Him… And the Word became flesh.”
- John 8:58 — “Before Abraham was, I AM.”
- Colossians 1:16-17; 2:9 — “By Him all things were created… He is before all things… For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.”
- Hebrews 1:2-3, 8, 10 — “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever”… “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth.”
- Titus 2:13 — “our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”
- Revelation 1:8, 17-18 — “I am the Alpha and the Omega… the Almighty.” “I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore.”
Aiming at the Wrong Target
It is possible to be very sincere and even “hit the bull’s eye” in a religious system — and still be facing the wrong direction.
Turning one’s back on the true target (Yeshua) and perfectly hitting the bull’s eye of a false target is still missing the mark. Many will one day hear the words, “I never knew you” (Matthew 7:21-23).
Contrast with Other Systems
Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that Jesus is Michael the Archangel, a created being. They deny that He is God.
Latter-day Saints (LDS) teach that Jesus is a spirit child of Heavenly Father and a Heavenly Mother — one of many gods in a heavenly council. They believe God the Father was once a man who progressed to godhood.
Both systems deny the clear biblical teaching that Yeshua is the eternal, uncreated God.
Scripture Foundation
- John 14:6 — “No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
- Acts 4:12 — “No other name under heaven… by which we must be saved.”
- Galatians 1:6-9 — Paul warns against any other gospel.
- 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 — Warning against another Jesus and a different gospel.
- Colossians 2:8-10 — “Not according to Christ.”
Connection to Pilgrim’s Progress
John Bunyan repeatedly shows pilgrims tempted to turn aside or climb over the wall instead of entering through the Gate and looking to Christ. The Bull’s Eye principle is clear throughout: only those who stay on the narrow way and keep Christ as the center reach the Celestial City.
