Cults thrive where the pure Gospel is distorted. They use Christian language but change core truths about God, Christ, salvation, or Scripture. The remedy is always the narrow Gate: simple faith in the finished work of Yeshua (Matt 7:13-14, John 14:6, Galatians 1:6-9).
What Defines a Cult? (Theological Sense)
- Claims to be Christian but alters essential doctrines.
- Adds extra revelation beyond the closed canon of Scripture.
- Presents a different Jesus or a different gospel.
- Often features authoritarian leadership and exclusive truth claims.
